The Verge is exposing that RIM workers are now able to find the PlayBook at sharp reductions. The announced costs are $100 for your 16GB release, $150 for the 32GB, and $200 for that 64GB unit. If your HP TouchPad taught the entire world anything, it’s that men and women suddenly turn into a ton more interested in non-iPad devices when they’re sold off at dirt-cheap price tags. Now that RIM has been doing exactly the same to the BlackBerry PlayBook, dev interest is picking up – the truth is, cyberpunk Chris Wade has already rooted his PlayBook.

To the common PlayBook owner, there’s probably not a great get enthusiastic about just yet. You won’t have the ability to root your PlayBook and install CyanogenMod, for instance. Right now, Wade’s root simply gives him permanent elevated permissions around the PlayBook. Wade presents some good info that is to be appreciated by those who may want to root their PlayBooks. First, he intentions of packaging and releasing a tool to root the PlayBook called DingleBerry. Third, it’s compatible with all versions of the PlayBook OS – such as the recently introduced OS 2.0 beta.

Interestingly enough, he rooted the BlackBerry PlayBook emulator made use of in April on this year. Seemingly it simply took a $300 reduce to convince him to pick up an actual version of RIM’s tablet computer and set about executing the root while on an real PlayBook. Not sure if this device has Blackberry Hotspot App but might be.

What’s next, now that the PlayBook has become rooted? Personally, I’m expecting anyone with PlayBook OS 2.0 figures out the way to let the digital cameras for Android apps. Research in motion sales is said to be offering its 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook to employees for as low as $99 through an employee-only website.

PlayBook fans can still pick-up one at the deep discount even without being on RIM’s payroll. Furthermore, RIM recently released an offer during which it will supply a free 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook to companies that upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) v5.0 in between now and December 31st.
