No Sound When Ideapad Y530 Laptop Connected to TV via HDMI Fix

No sound when laptop connected to TV via HDMI problems occurs for some people using IdeaPad Y530. Most people usually hear the sound only from built-in speaker. But when connecting to TV, no sound is heard. Read the fix below to get it working.

Enabling HDMI Device

HDMI might not be enabled on your machine. This is a crucial step when you want to hear sound on TV. Just follow these steps below:

Go to Control Panel
Click Sound
If HDMI device is not present, right click in the playback windows and click Show Disabled Devices
You will be able to enable HDMI now
Make it the default audio device to make it work

If your Y530 runs Vista, follow these steps:

Go to Control Panel
Open the Realtek HD audio manager
Make a note the 3 big grey tabs across the top, Digital out, speakers, and microphone.
Click the digital out
Choose digital quality output format from the drop down
Select set default device button and then press OK (this will make it the default audio device)
