No sound when laptop connected to TV via HDMI problems occurs for some people using IdeaPad Y530. Most people usually hear the sound only from built-in speaker. But when connecting to TV, no sound is heard. Read the fix below to get it working.
Enabling HDMI Device
HDMI might not be enabled on your machine. This is a crucial step when you want to hear sound on TV. Just follow these steps below:
- Go to Control Panel
- Click Sound
- If HDMI device is not present, right click in the playback windows and click Show Disabled Devices
- You will be able to enable HDMI now
- Make it the default audio device to make it work
If your Y530 runs Vista, follow these steps:
- Go to Control Panel
- Open the Realtek HD audio manager
- Make a note the 3 big grey tabs across the top, Digital out, speakers, and microphone.
- Click the digital out
- Choose digital quality output format from the drop down
- Select set default device button and then press OK (this will make it the default audio device)
