No Sound on Laptop Thinkpad T61 After Standby (Resolved)

Windows XP Pro with ACPI power management driver installed can bring no sound problem on your Thinkpad T61 laptop when waking it up by lifting the laptop lit after going into standby mode. But you still get sound when you standby the notebook and waking it up using the power button. Something must go wrong with automatic standby and lid standby.

Fix for No Sound on Thinkpad T61

It seems the above problem is a bug from the manufacturer of T61. The easy fix would be disabling and re-enabling the audio device in device manager.

Another solution you can try is by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Device Manager
  2. Find modem and double click on software modem.
  3. Click on Power Management tab,
  4. Uncheck “allow this device to bring the computer out of standby”

This would simply resolve the problem. If you are not using a modem then disable it. This is used to avoid hardware conflict that may occur in the future. Hope it helps.
