Nikon D300s, like the previous model D300 is the new digital SLR camera which have many fans. But many photographers are asking about Nikon D300s shutter life because they want to gauge how long the camera will last, forecast and replace this camera into a new one when needed.
Nikon explain that D300 has been tested to up to 150,000 cycles. Another report came from Olegkikin.com which showed nice graphic chart about Nikon D300 shutter life, complete with survival estimation (Kaplan-Meier). The graph showing that the camera can last up to 150,000 clicks, although performance is reduced when the count reaches 50,000 clicks. Looks like Nikon is right about this number.
