Memory Card Reader not working on Gateway Laptops running Vista

Have a Gateway laptop and having problem of memory card reader not working? If you are running Windows Vista, you should see additional drive automatically when inserting the memory card at Windows Explorer.

If memory card can’t detect, there are several things that might cause this problem:

  1. Make sure that the memory card has been properly formatted before use.
  2. You are having a problem in your card reader.

If you have successfully formatted your card but having a problem in your card reader, you should try to update the memory card drivers. Many Gateway laptops use Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated FlashMedia Controller as the driver. Note that xx is numbers.

To get the right driver, you need to visit Gateway.com website first. Go to Support, and choose Drivers & Downloads. Search for “T1 Media Card Reader Driver” on the site using the search box. Download the driver and follow instructions to install it. Don’t forget to restart your machine once you have completed the installation. The card reader should work now.
