Install Windows 7 on MSI Wind

I’d like to share you about my experience on Install Windows 7 on MSI Wind (errors and solution of course). The Mini Note MSI is capable of handling the new Microsoft OS, Windows 7. You will need approximately 25 minutes to install Windows 7 on the machine and ready to be used. Booting was fast, just about 2 minutes top. I think it was faster than on Vista, but a little slower than Win XP.

There are some annoying errors when running Windows 7. The Windows Index kept showing error “An unknown error has caused WinSAT to fail in an unexpected way”. This might be the size and resolution that fall under bad condition. Definitely this problem is about the graphic card that is not compatible for the Vista.

One solution for this problem is using the latest graphic laptop drivers and use the max resolution that only can be handle by the graphic card. Check the manual to be sure what maximum resolution the card can handle and refresh rate.

Install Graphic Card Driver on Windows 7

  1. When booting, hold F8 to get boot options
  2. Select disable driver signature check to boot
  3. When running driver setup use Vista drivers, but don’t run it yet
  4. Right click on setup executable files (usually setup.exe) and click on Properties, set program compatibility to Vista and click Apply
  5. Right click again on the setup executable file, click Run as administrator

The driver should be compatible with Windows 7 on MSI Wind now.
