Install sound card driver on Lenovo Thinkpad X200 laptop sometimes a bit confusing because of the problem that may arise. Some people think that installing on X200 is different than any other laptops. Most problem dealing with sound card driver is the error “No media for device driver” that makes the system not recognize the device.

If you want to smoothly install sound driver on X200, you might want to follow these steps:

  1. Download Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646) here.
  2. Install the audio driver you have downloaded.
  3. Once the installation completed, restart the machine.
  4. Navigate to Device Manager. At the System Device you should see the new PCI-Device that the drivers for this device are not installed was showed-up.
  5. Update the Driver and wait until the process is completed.

You would see 2 new devices under other devices in Device manager once you have completed the update process. After that, install the audio driver for Lenovo X200 (which is Conexant). Restart the laptop after install completed. Hopefully you would hear the sound from your Lenovo X200 laptop.
