How to Watch DVD on Thinkpad T40p via S-Video Out

This tutorial will help you to know how to setup and watch DVD on Thinkpad T40p laptop via S-Video out. Usually, you just connect s-video cable between T40 and TV and it should be no problem at all. Some people reported that after connecting between the two devices, no movie displayed on TV, but they can watch them clearly on laptop.

Unable to Watch DVD on TV Fix

One simple solution which you can use is by changing the configuration. You can try changing custom display scheme with “Presentation Director” which you can accessed from “Thinkpad configuration” under “display” pull down menu. On the dialog box, you then create a custom scheme “dvd”. This will set the external screen resolution to 640×480.

By using this workaround, T40p will be compatible with any standard NTSC TV resolution and removing any hassle manual setting every time you have to activate the S-Video output. A shortcut for this custom scheme you have created can be accessed by pressing Fn+F7.
