Lenovo ThinkPad X301 is a laptop that powerful enough to bring everywhere, especially when doing a business trip as the notebook performance is quite good. One thing you might want to do with the laptop is installing Thinkvantage GPS. GPS would be a great assistance when you are doing a trip to unknown territory or country. It might also save you cost on buying maps.

Some users experienced trouble even when he tried to clean install the Thinkvantage GPS on Windows Vista. The latest version reported a problem with the GPS device, saying “let Windows look for an alternative online?”, but the 2.11 works fine even with no respond from the device.

If you experienced the same problem, make sure that WWAN module in your Thinkpad X301 has a SIM card on it. If it is, then the culprit for the problem would be the software. You can try uninstalling WWAN and the GPS, do a System Update with Thinkvantage update software. It will install WWAN and restart your computer.

After installing WWAN, make it enabled by using Fn+F5 hotkeys and run update again. It will install GPS module. The GPS should be working fine after installing the driver.
