Hibernation Mode Error on Thinkpad T400

It’s getting annoying when you get shutdown instead of hibernation mode on your Thinkpad T400 laptop. The system seemed go hibernating as there is hibernate progress bar visible, but the system was actually shutting down. After you have restarted the machine, you got BSOD error with ATI2dvag.dll being displayed.

Hibernation Mode Error on Thinkpad T400

Lenovo Thinkpad T400 comes with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9400 @ 2.53 GHz, 2GB RAM and Windows XP SP3. The hibernation mode is a handy state when you want to boot the computer faster by saving the last information about your work on the hard drive. Shutting down after saving all the information is a normal condition when hibernating.

But the error surely came after downgrading OS to XP, SP3 or even BIOS update. To fix this issue, you can try to rollback the ATI display driver with your old driver. Usually this would resolve the issue on crashing with hibernation/sleep mode. If this doesn’t work, update your laptop drivers.
