Fn sleep or standby key doesn’t work on your laptop? If you realize by now that your Fn key works for all functions on your keyboard pad except for sleep or standby, the article below shows you how to fix it.
First, go to Start > Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced Tab. Check if “When I press the sleep button on my computer” is set to standby. You might notice that after running Windows Update, the option standby and hibernate are available to use. Windows Update is a cool feature that finding and installing critical updates to your Windows installation, also with newest video driver.
If you still having problem with only have Shutdown option without standy or hibernate, try rebooting after Windows Update is done installing all the updates. You should be able to use sleep key and standby by now.
Still stuck on the problem? The sleep or standby depends on the video drivers, so if you still have problem after installing the newest laptop drivers from Windows Update, there might be the video drivers is the source of problems. Try finding the official drivers from the manufacturer’s website and replace Windows certified drivers with that one.
