USB unrecognized device on HP Pavilion DV8000 laptop is reported by users who has been running the laptop for months, but suddenly it stops recognizing any USB devices. Uninstalling all the ports and restarting the machine doesn’t resolve the problem. Even trying registry keys doesn’t work. Before you decided to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS, you might want to try this workaround first.
If you have formatted the hard drive, and reinstalling all driver under Bus Series Controller in device manager but couldn’t make it work, it seems the problem lies on the motherboard. Before blaming the motherboard, you should get the specific drivers for dv8000 on the HP site first.
Last but not least, maybe the motherboard is simply broken. This might be caused by overload or overheating.
Other solution you can do is disabling the enhanced 2.0 and change it to 1.1. This should fix all of ports although it may run slow.
