Sigmatel audio problem on Dell Inspiron 1525 is commonly caused by unpurposely uninstalled important files that supposed to be the used by audio drivers. Basically, the problem can be resolved by uninstalling the sound drivers and installing back. Be sure that the card is in good condition, no situation that allows for the device not being recognize by the system PnP. If the solution do no good, you might have related files needed to run the audio driver in sys32 and sys32/drivers gone. Follow the instructions below to get Dell Inspiron 1525 Sigmatel audio to work again properly:

  1. Uninstall the Sigmatel audio driver
  2. Scan for hardware change, your system should locate HD audio device
  3. Get the browse button and direct to UAA hotfix folder
  4. If the application ask for the stapi32.dll,  you will need to insert your Dell Driver for Sigmatel, or download it first
  5. If you have gone that too, download and extract to c:\dell. Do the steps above again and you should be fine
