Fix on External Monitor Not Working with Laptop ThinkPad T42p

When your Samsung Syncmaster 2333SW external monitor not working with laptop Thinkpad T42p, you might want to read this fix. The symptom we discussed here are dealing with involving changing resolutions such as 1600×1200 and 2048×1536, but you are not able to change to native resolution of 1920×1080.

The cause of the above problem is simple, the wrong driver is installed. In order to get the 1920×1080 resolution, you will need to install the right driver for the monitor.

Try download and installing Omega Catalyst driver here. After you have installed the laptop drivers, you will need to uncheck box on the Monitors tab “Hide modes this monitor cannot display”. This will only display the resolution the monitor can handle. You should now see the 1920×1080 for the adapter. Make sure that Samsung was selected as the primary monitor in the Displays tab.
