Fix Delaying Force Quit Shutdown on Alienware M15x/17x

Do you have a problem with your gaming laptop, especially on Alienware M15x/17x? When shutting down, you might notice that all windows will be closed and forced quit windows for about 12 seconds before the machine turned off itself. The forced quit shutdown is just too slow with annoying delaying.

Fix Delaying Force Quit Shutdown on Alienware M15x/17x

If you have similar issue, follow this steps to resolve it. You need to use Registry Editor, but when you do, please use it at your own risk because it might break your system if you don’t do it properly.

Fix Delaying Force Quit Shutdown

  1. Press Win + R on your keyboard in order to open the command prompt.
  2. Type “regedit” (without quotes) to open Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Control
  4. Once you’ve got there, right click on “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” and modify.
  5. Set it for 1000-20000 (1 to 20 seconds) from the default value which is 12000.

Note that this also works on other Alienware M15x or other notebook who have problem on delay forced quit shutdown.
