Got a trouble during booting? When running XP, it takes a long time to boot up on Lenovo Thinkpad X200, which needed 15 minutes. The factory restore doesn’t help and even releasing battery out and factory reset doesn’t solve the problem. Look familiar?
It looks like the problem of X200 taking very long time on boot mostly because of something messed up on BIOS settings. To fix this problem, install older BIOS.
x200 users also reported that they have experimented with this and conclude that:
- With the 3.x BIOS, system took 15-20 minutes to boot up.
- With the 2.x BIOS, it took about 2 minutes.
But surely this depends on the system. If you have 3.x BIOS, change something in the POST settings for boot before deciding to replace the BIOS to an older one. One option you can change is the HDD and system checks in POST which is going to change boot times dramatically.

You should disable the security chip (maybe also AMT) in BIOS, if they are not installed in the OS and used. According to my experience, that removes the 10min wait with BIOS 3.15. Lenovo should have considered that many don’t install/use the security chip.
