Fix AlienWare M17x Slow Performance

Have you ever got into a situation where your AlienWare M17x suddenly went from fast to slow performance? This problem has occured time to time, some was getting this when playing the famous World of Warcraft. Usually, when using High Performance setting you could expect to get around 60 to 70 frame per second. But if you only get 20 to 40 FPS, you might have this problem. Another symptom is the loudness come from laptop fan. It is very unusual to get very loud noise coming from laptop fan when playing games, not when you are using Alienware gaming laptops.

Solution to Alienware M17x Problem

This problem can be resolved by using Power Play in the CCC. You will have to follow these steps:

  1. Right click on your OS desktop, then select Catalyst icon when the popup menu appears.
  2. Click the same drop down (Graphics) and select PowerPlay

You can also use GPU-Z program, just to be sure that your Alienware M17x smoothly runs with high performance. If you want the Crossfire enabled or just uses CCC, then follow these steps:

  1. Go to the PowerPlay dropdown and select CrossfireX
  2. Check whether your Windows Power Plan is already set to High Performance
