Looking for a solution to fix Alienware M17x failed playing Starcraft 2? Unable to play the game makes one of M17x laptop owners’ life harder. Apparently he already updated the driver which was required by FF14, but he couldn’t use Ultra Mode to play Starcraft 2 as it were before, when it ran very smooth, but now the fps rate become very low to play. Uninstalling Catalyst, running driver sweepe, and also updated AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5870 driver didn’t work. Running VBios with USB key didn’t work either.
But there is a solution which is reported to be successful. As a Dell Alienware M17x laptop owner, you can do the following steps:
Run Catalyst Control Center then browse to Graphics -> 3D
Click All on options as below:
16x in SMOOTHVISION HD:Anti-Aliasing
Filter in Box
2x SMOOTHVISION HD:Anisotropic Filtering
Catalyst AI in Disable Catalys AI
High Quality Midmap Detail Level
Always On Wait for vertical refresh
Sample AA Anti-Aliasing Mode-Super
Disable Tripple buffering
Hope it works on running Starcraft2 without having unusual M17x slow performance.
