DVD Drive Not Recognized by MediaDirect Troubleshooting

If you have problem with your Dell MediaDirect 4.0 and Studio 15 laptop with Vista installed, you might want to read this article. The issue to solve is when you are going to play Blu-Ray discs. You put the disc in and the program automatically runs. After a while it just doing the loading green circle that you have to terminate it by force to stop it running. The problem might also lies on the blu-ray disc. If it’s the new one, you just have a problem. Some newer blu-ray discs require firmware and/or software updates to play. Unfortunately, there hasn’t one of the updates work for MediaDirect 4, so eventhough it does support the playback of blu-ray discs (assuming you have blu-ray drive), it might not playback the very latest ones.

If you have a copy of PowerDVD or other similar application that can play blu-ray discs in Windows, you might want to try them out and see if it works without firmware update.
