HP Compaq CQ40 401AU recommended OS is Windows Vista, but some programs and games are not compatible with Vista yet, so if you have switched to XP, make your own CD with nLite and installed SATA driver, XP would be successfuly installed. But you might missed one laptop drivers, which is Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus. Eventhough the driver works and there is sound, but you might want to download and install the driver you’ll need because that exclamation mark on Device Manager sure look annoying.
