The new Macbook Pro 2011 is a highly popular computer system that provides extensive items to adore with its 15 and 17-inch design range and dual-core processor. If it boots to a black screen, the MacBook is not displaying Apple logo illuminated on the back. However, when connected to a second display, it works but not when using it on primary screen.

At this point, you should contact Apple store to see if there is something wrong with your MacBook having black screen. If in the store it works fine, then it might be a faulty cable connecting to the second display which causes the problem. So if the primary display doesn’t work without any cable connected to the second display, this is a sign that you need to zap the PRAM. You can read how to zap it here. If it fails, you may not connected to a good power source, so try connecting to an APC surge protector.

You can also check if it boots from the install DVD to check if there is a hardware problem before contacting Apple store. If it does, it might be the graphics circuit or screen causing black screen. Then you should contact Apple store to have your MacBook repaired.
