1720 Hard Drive Detects Imminent Failure on HP Pavilion DV6700

Have you got problems with your HP Pavilion DV6700 showing black screen and message on the left corner said, “1720 S.M.A.R.T. Hard Drive detects imminent failure. Please back up hard drive and run HDD self test in F10 setup or press F1 to resume as normal” as it boots?

Pressing F10 / F11 nothing happens and the black screen still showing. This is a serious problem and need your actions immediately. FYI, if S.M.A.R.T showing report that your hard drive fails, it can be a serious problem with your hard drive health condition. The worst thing you can imagine is losing your hard drive and not being able to get your data back.

Diagnose Hard Drive Failure

To make sure that the failure is final and diagnose to verify the immeninent fail or diagnose healthy condition of your hard drive, software such as Ultimate Boot CD can be used to do this job. Use another PC you have to download and create the bootable utility disk. Remove the hard drive from the PC and start the laptop. Then run the Ultimate Boot disk hard drive utility.
